A Half Year of Greenness

In the last half year, many things has happened around Proto. Almost 90 of it’s 425 members took care of incredible, sweet, great events, bringing large or small groups of CreaTers closer together. Together with a number of storytelling pictures, we’re looking back to some of the highlights of the past few months.

Kick-In

The year hasn’t even started yet and the first activities are already there! A group of almost a hundred new Creative Technology students entered the SmartXp for the first time and chose their favorite Do-Group parents. Nine days, filled with activities, new friends and less sleep, followed, of which three days were organized by the KICC 2014. Within these three days, students got the chance to fulfill the many embarrassing assignments of the Scavenger Hunt, to build a life threatening robot during the LEGO Robot Wars and to listen to exiting lectures and talks of e.g. Edwin Dertien.

DSC_0066 ProtoCamp – Wizards of BoOZe A new tradition has born: ProtoCamp. For the third time in history, the Camp Committee organized a weekend full of activities for a bunch of CreaTers. With Wizards of BoOZe as theme of this years camp, the group

was split in four ‘houses’ of wizards. During the activities like ‘Pimp Your Team’, ‘Quidditch’ and the traditional Cantus, these groups could win or loose points, with at the end one winning group. Jonathan Juursema - [Oct 14] Camp - 0104 Wacom Tablet Draw-Off In collaboration with S.G. Daedalus, the study association of Industrial Design, we put up the first Wacom Tablet Draw-Off of Enschede. During this event, multiple students of Creative Technology, Industrial Design and some other studies could show their drawing skills on a professional Wacom Tablet. The students got two cases, in which they were asked to make a drawing in only 15 minutes. The first case was about creating a new application for a sportive activity in the categories ‘climbing’, ‘skating’ and ‘free-running’. In the other case, the assignments was to design a cover for a new game in again three different genres. In the end, the jury including Pim Jager (Student Union), Tom Nijkamp (Wacom) and Robert Wendrich (Teacher Industrial Design), choose one student as the best Tablet Illustrator of the Wacom Tablet Draw-Off 2014.
